Smile, it’s free therapy.
I used to think having a really happy/nice/joy-full looking face, was a built in feature, you know, like you where born with it or, it had something to do with your fantasy childhood.
But then I read, if you fake a smile, in the mirror, long enough, you can convince your brain that you are smiling!
Ofcourse… I had to try this, smiling in the mirror, too silly to work. Now it was confronting, I am not going to lie, but I kept trying with my rusty face! But then, I started smiling to myself in the mirror. Shocked, I would laugh out loud! It was so absurd. I had to go through that experience, to achieve a what is called a flawless smile!
Reasons why this is such a dope Health Hack!
- According to Dr. Fernando Marmolejo-Ramos, the simple act of forcing a smile stimulates the emotional center of the brain — the amygdala — which releases neurotransmitters to encourage an emotionally positive state.
- Smiling is contagious not just because of how a smile looks from the outside, but also because of the intention and the feeling that is put behind a smile.
“When someone smiles at you, you feel the good vibes from them, which makes you want to pass a smile on the next person, and so on and so forth.”
— Jasmin Wang
